Meditation Tip 6 – Follow Your Breath

If the idea of “meditating” intimidates you, try reframing your perspective. Instead of practicing meditation, you are simply finding and following your breath. Set aside all preconceived notions about meditation and start by simply breathing.

The next time you settle in to practice meditation, focus solely on your breath. Feel how it inflates your abdomen, filling your torso from your navel all the way to your collarbone. Notice the sensation of cool air entering your nostrils, and the warm air that you exhale.

As thoughts inevitably arise during your practice, release them along with your breath. Turn your mind instead to the gentle rhythm of your inhalations and exhalations. Feel how this simple exercise grounds your mind and spirit, preparing you for whatever may come.
